Men's #AEHoops Week 4: UMBC, UMass Lowell Post Unbeaten Weeks

BOSTON – UMass Lowell continued its strong start to the seasons with two more wins. The River Hawks are off to their best program start in 20 seasons with their 8-1 record. Winniers of six in a row, UMass Lowell has the highest NET ranking of any America East team at #53.

UMBC added two wins last week thanks for its high-flying offense. The Retreivers scored 109 points and set new program and America East marks with 21 three-pointers in a win over Coppin State on Wednesday. They then poured in 88 points in a win over Lehigh on Saturday.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

The men’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 20.

Player of the Week
Jacob Boonyasith, UMBC - Sr., Guard, Grand Rapids, Mich.
  • Averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a 2-0 week for UMBC.
  • Scored a career-high 24 points and added eight assists to lead the Retrievers to a win over Coppin State on Wednesday.
  • Added 17 points in a win over Lehigh on Saturday.
  • Shot 54 percent from the floor (13-for-24) overall and 69 percent from three-point land (9-for-13)..
  • This is Boonyasith's first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor
Rookie of the Week
TJ Hurley, Vermont - Fr., Guard, Pelham, Ont.
  • Averaged 15.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for Vermont.
  • Shot 59 percent (10-for-17) from the field.
  • Scored 15 points and canned four three-pointers in a win over Merrimack on sunday.
  • This is Hurley's first career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
